‘Taylor Swift’ by Hugh Behm-Steinberg

Taylor Swift by Hugh Behm-Steinberg, 2015

The magic trick:

Fairly deranged story logic

This story of Taylor Swift cloning was published in 2015.

Well before the Eras Tour.

Well before Travis Kelce entered the Swifty lexicon.

Well before Taylor Swift took over the world.

Back in 2015, she was just another famous pop star, probably ranked a solid third behind Beyonce and Kanye.

Since then, she’s elevated to God of all worlds and galaxies.

So just imagine what Behm-Steinberg might write if he penned this story now.

As it is, “Taylor Swift” is a funny, fast romp of a story, Its logic – or lack thereof – is fairly deranged.

And that’s quite a trick on Behm-Steinberg’s part.

The selection:

So you wake up your Taylor Swift and put her to work doing your chores. Why are you being so mean to me she asks you, but you won’t look her in the eye. Instead you ask your mom for an advance on your allowance now that all the chores are done, and with the money you get three more Taylor Swifts. When they arrive you make them do nothing but cardio and kickboxing training for weeks on end. And steroids. They look all sweaty and hard and sexy but, unlike some people, you know all about delayed gratification. You make your Taylor Swifts sleep in separate crates.
